The 90th Congregation for the Conferment of Bachelor’s Degrees (United College Graduation Ceremony 2021) was held on 4 November 2021 at the University Mall, CUHK. About 50 College guests joined the Ceremony to support and congratulate the graduates. At the Ceremony, College Head Professor Jimmy C M Yu presented graduates of eight faculties to Professor Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Presiding Officer of the Conferment of Bachelor’s Degrees, in the order of Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Science. The number of graduates this year is 817 while over 600 graduates and 1,500 parents and family members attended the Ceremony.

The College was very grateful to have Dr Simon Y H Tang, Cluster Chief Executive, New Territories West Cluster, Hospital Authority to be our Guest-of-Honour and to deliver a speech at the Ceremony.  On behalf of the College, Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of United College Board of Trustees, presented a souvenir to Dr Tang. Dr Tang is a distinguished alumnus of United College.

Mr Simon K C Lee, Vice-Chairman of the College Board of Trustees and President of the College Alumni Association, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, was also invited as the Guest-of-Honour and to speak at the Ceremony to encourage the graduates.  Mr Lau Tsun-ming of Biochemistry Programme, representative of graduates, gave his Vote of Thanks. The Graduation Ceremony was held in a live webcasting, to allow the involvement of non-local and overseas graduates.

At the same occasion, a simple but meaningful Tree-planting Ceremony was officiated by Professor Chan Wai-yee, Ms Lina H Y Yan, Professor Jimmy C M Yu, Professor Alaster H Y Lau, Professor Stephen H S Wong, Professor Lee Hung-kay, Dr Simon Y H Tang, Mr Simon K C Lee and 2017 Class Society representative Mr Cheung Yee-nok.  A group photo-taking session of all the guests, graduates as well as their family members marked the ending of the Ceremony.
