From 2016-2017 onward, the Chinese University has abandoned the policy whereby newly admitted non-local undergraduates will not be guaranteed hostel accommodation on campus during their normative period of study. They have to arrange accommodation by themselves for one academic year. In the same spirit, the UC Student Hostels Management Committee has resolved that non-local undergraduates will not be given priority for hostel accommodation in their third year of study. Non-local undergraduates wishing to reside on campus in their non-guaranteed year have to submit hostel applications to the College in the year before promoting to year 3. A quota will be set aside for them but they will have to compete according to the prevailing selection criteria. These will include (a) academic performance, (b) participation in extra-curricular activities and (c) participation in hostel activities.
UC non-local undergraduates promoting to year 3 in the academic year 2024-2025 and wishing to reside on campus should submit on-line Application Form during the period from 24 October to 5:30 pm of 10 November 2023. Applicants wishing to seek wardens’ endorsement for their participation in hostel activities should submit the Hostel Activity Record form to their respective wardens before 3 November 2023 for endorsement. All relevant documents should be submitted together with the online application form before the hostel application deadline.
Students planning to be away for work-study or exchange programmes and hence applying for half-year accommodations also need to submit their application forms during this same period. Incomplete forms and late applications will not be considered. Unsuccessful applicants should arrange off-campus accommodation by themselves as soon as possible.
