Do you know that the Deaf community prefers “Deaf” as their identity rather than “Hearing-impaired”? In fact, more people are interested in learning sign language nowadays trying to overcome the barriers between different communities.
United College Social Innovation and Experiential Learning Project (SIEL) 2023-24 is organising the “Experiential Workshop of the Deaf Culture & Sign Language” on 20 November 2023. The Deaf instructors will elaborate on Deaf culture, teach us some sign language, and share living experience with us. Through experiential learning, we try to clear our confusion about the Deaf community and to know more about their life.
Application is open from now on to 12:00 noon, 16 November 2023. The workshop is FREE of charge (with a deposit of HK$50) and UC students are welcome to apply.
