UC College alumnus, Professor the Honourable Priscilla M F Leung, GBS, JP (87/GPAD), was appointed Honorary Fellow in the 23^rd Honorary Fellowship Presentation Ceremony of The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 30 June 2025, in recognition of her remarkable accomplishments in her field and exceptional contributions to the University and the society. The College sincerely congratulates Professor Leung!

Professor the Honourable Priscilla M F Leung, GBS, JP currently serves as a Legislative Council member, a barrister-at-law, an arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and an internationally recognised mediator. She began her studies in English Language and Literature at CUHK, then switched to the Department of Government and Public Administration. After graduation, Professor Leung pursued postgraduate studies in law at Renmin University of China, where she studied with Professor Xu Chongde, a key drafter of the Hong Kong Basic Law. She joined the Faculty of Law at the City University of Hong Kong in 1989 and initiated the monumental project of translating select court judgments from China into English, helping the world understand China’s judicial system and the progress of its legal reform. Her academic research focuses on the differences between the legal systems of Hong Kong and mainland China, as well as the laws of Belt-and-Road countries. Her monographs on the Basic Law, in both English and Chinese, are regarded as essential reference works. In 2000, Professor Leung was honoured with the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award. In 2008, she was elected to the Legislative Council to represent the Kowloon West constituency, and since 2018, she has been a member of the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. This March, she was invited to return to her alma mater to deliver a lecture titled “The Rule of Law under ‘One Country, Two Systems’” in the General Education China Programme. She also took the opportunity to share her personal journey, encouraging students to have the courage to strive for their dreams.
