The Cornerstone of Mentoring Relationship – Inauguration Luncheon of Year of Calvin Y Y Wong 2022 – 2023

Do you remember the scene when you first meet your friends? For most mentors and mentees, the moment when they begin their relationship is probably the inauguration luncheon. The inauguration luncheon is a proud tradition of the programme, which is held annually after the matching exercise. It is a formal occasion for mentors and mentees to meet up and know each other. This year, the inauguration luncheon was held on 12 November 2022 at Junior Ball Room of Royal Plaza Hotel.

The luncheon started with speeches by Professor Stephen H S Wong, College Head and Mr Simon K C Lee, President of United College Alumni Association.

Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees and Honorable President of the College Alumni Association, and Professor Stephen H S Wong, Head of United College, presented a trophy with inscription to College alumnus, Mr Clavin Y Y Wong, year patron of UC Mentorship Programme 2022-2023, to thank his contribution to the mentorship programme. Mr Wong was one of the founding convenors when the programme was first initiated in 2000 and he continued to support as a mentor for five consecutive years and as year patron this year. The Coordinating Committee was thankful for his staunch support.

The luncheon has set a cornerstone for the friendship and bondage among participants. Relationships last not because they were destined to last, but because two people made a choice to keep it, fight for it, and most importantly work for it.
