From 2016-2017 onward, the Chinese University has abandoned the policy whereby newly admitted non-local undergraduates will not be guaranteed hostel accommodation on campus during their normative period of study. They have to arrange accommodation by themselves for one academic year. The UC Student Hostels Management Committee has resolved that non-local undergraduates will not be given priority for hostel accommodation in their third year of study. Non-local undergraduates wishing to reside on campus in their non-guaranteed year have to submit hostel applications to the College in the year before promoting to year 3. A quota will be set aside for them but they will have to compete according to the prevailing selection criteria. These will include (a) academic performance (b) participation in extra-curricular activities and (c) participation in hostel activities.
The residential term for 2021-2022 will start in early September 2021 and end in May 2022. The hostel fees are pending. UC non-local undergraduates promoting to year 3 in 2021-2022 and wishing to reside on campus should apply on-line during the period from 11 January to 5:30 pm of 25 January 2021 at the College website https://cloud.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/webform/view.php?id=11739901. Relevant documents should be uploaded together to the website as instructed.
Students planning to be away for work-study or exchange programmes and hence applying for half-year accommodations also need to submit their application forms during this same period. Please note that students on suspension of studies are not eligible for hostel accommodation during their periods away, including participants of one-year or half-year work-study programmes or exchanges. Incomplete forms and late applications will not be considered. Unsuccessful applicants should arrange off-campus accommodation by themselves as soon as possible.
