In response to the Open Letter of Vice-Chancellor and President and Provost on 16 December 2020, the College has to limit our hostel occupancy to minimize the risk of cluster infections emerging on campus. We must also set aside rooms for emergency purposes in case there is an outbreak in one of the hostels and a thorough disinfection is needed.
The hostel selection results for special accommodation at UC student hostels in Term 2 of 2020-2021 have been announced on the College website. The residential term will start on 9 January 2021 and end in May 2021. Resident students will receive their billing notification from the Finance Office of the University by e-mail. They have to pay the non-refundable hostel fee of HK$6,658. New resident students are also required to pay a refundable deposit of HK$1,000. The hostel assignment will be announced on the College website on 4 January 2021. The College will announce more details to students via email.
We realize how disappointing this must be for many of our students who want to stay in hostels. The College will continue to monitor the situation closely, follow the University guidelines and inform individual student the hostel assignment according to their genuine needs when feasible.
