United College Bomber Jacket Design Competition 2023

The College is organising a Bomber Jacket Design Competition to provide an opportunity for College members, students and alumni to design a jacket that belongs to UCians. Winners will be able to win grand prizes. The Champion design will be adopted as the College souvenir and will be sold in September 2023. All UCians are warmly welcome to join the competition!

Eligibility: United College students, staff and alumni
Selection:

【First Round】

Each design will be evaluated by the College Management Team comprised of College Head, Associate College Heads and College Secretary according to the selection criteria, design concept and creativity, aesthetics, and wearability. Top 5 designs will be entered into the “Public Vote” session.

【Public Vote】

Top 5 designs will be uploaded to the United College Instagram. Design which receives the highest number of “Like” during the voting period would be awarded as the Champion.

Prizes:

• Champion (1 place)
  Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Speaker (in own choice of colour: Black/Brown/Cream);
  and the winning bomber jacket
• Outstanding Design Awards (4 places)
  Apple HomePod mini speaker (in own choice of colour: White/Yellow/Orange/Blue/Space Gray)

Design Requirement:

1. The design must be related to United College and the theme – VIVA UC.
2. The following wordings must be included in the design: “United College” or “UC” or “聯合書院” or “聯合”.
3. Size: Front and back design; printing area for each side should not be larger than A4 size (210 X 297 mm).
4. The design shall not consist of any elements of personal attack and inconsistency with facts or defamation.
5. Format: PS/AI, with 300 dpi image resolution.
6. The base colour of the bomber jacket should be either black/dark blue/navy green/Khaki. At most three colours could be used in the design (not including the base colour). Fade colour is not allowed.
7. Please provide your design concept (20-100 words).
8. Each applicant could submit one design only.
9. Any design that violating the above requirements will not be accepted and will be disqualified.

Terms and conditions:

1. Design must be original and not previously published, awarded, or restricted by any permission or copyright.
2. The College will not be held responsible for infringement of copyright connected with the design entries.
3. The College reserves the right to use the design without the participants’ permission or offer additional rewards, regardless of whether it is awarded or not.
4. The selection panel may request for fine-tuning the design of Top 5 entries during 15-20 June 2023, to facilitate the public vote session.
5. If any dishonesty is found during the public voting period, the entry will be disqualified.
6. The Champion bomber jacket design will be sold at the Dean of Students’ Office of United College as souvenir.
7. In case of any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English version and the Chinese version, the Chinese version shall prevail.
8. By submitting an entry in the Competition, each participant agrees to be bound by the above Terms and Conditions.
9. United College reserves the right to make any changes without prior notice. In the event of a dispute, the decision of The United College is final.
