To celebrate the 70^th Anniversary of United College, the first Joint‑Hostel High Table Dinner co‑organised by the College Hostel Residents’ Associations and the Non‑residential Halls was held on 20 March 2026 at the Thomas H C Cheung Gymnasium, Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building.  On the evening, members of the College management, wardens, resident tutors, staff members and students gathered in a warm and lively atmosphere, with around 200 participants in attendance.

Conceived by the student organising committee, the event them ‘Stella’ symbolises precious encounters amid the passage of time. It reflects the hope that, amidst the busy rhythms of campus life, students and staff could pause to engage in meaningful conversations, strengthen connections, and allow cherished moments to continue through shared experiences, thereby building a close‑knit United College community.

The Dinner was honoured to have College alumnus, Ms Norris Y L Wong, a renowned film director, screenwriter, and lyricist, as the guest speaker. Under the topic ‘UC Lyricist Wannabe’, Ms Wong shared how her experiences at United College from 2006 to 2009, including hostel life, peer interactions, and exposure to diverse community cultures, gradually laid the foundation for her lyric writing and cinematic artistry.

The evening concluded beautifully amidst warm interactions and ambient lighting.  The College hopes that students will continue creating unforgettable moments of connection throughout the busy academic lives, allowing deep bonds of the United College community to be strengthened as time flows on.

Professor Stephen H S Wong, College Head, delivered a welcoming message at the Dinner, expressing his gratitude to the Student Organising Committee for their dedication in making ‘Stella’ a memorable moment to connect College members.

Drawing on her own experiences, Ms Norris Y L Wong, College Alumnus, encouraged students to discover their true passions and remain steadfast in pursuing them.

Professor Martin C S Wong (2^nd right), Associate Head and Dean of Students, joined the lucky draw session as the guest drawer, bringing warmth and cheer to the joyous atmosphere of the evening.
