【2025 UCGOAL X LIP】 Culture & English Language Programme at the University of York, UK

From 4 to 24 June 2025, 15 college students, accompanied by Programme Advisor, Professor Wilkinson Gonzales of the Department of English, participated in a three-week Culture and English Language Programme at the University of York, UK, jointly organised by the UC Globe-oriented Active Learning Programme and Language Improvement Project.

Throughout the programme, students were fully immersed in an English-speaking environment, engaging daily with teachers and peers at the University. This intensive exposure significantly improved their English communication skills, with a particular focus on oral proficiency, boosting their confidence in using the language.

Beyond the classroom, the programme also offered a rich array of cultural experiences. Students embarked on guided visits to iconic landmarks such as York Minster and the York Castle Museum,  savored traditional British afternoon tea, and sampled local cuisine. A highlight was the homestay experience, which provided students with a unique opportunity to live with local families and gain firsthand insight into British life and culture.

Every student gained enriching experiences and meaningful insights, fostering both personal growth and a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity.

The College extends sincere gratitude to Professor Wilkinson Gonzales for serving as the programme advisor and helping to create unforgettable memories for our students.
