The Closing Ceremony for GEUC2018 “Leadership in Practice” course for Term 2, 2024-2025 was held on 3 April 2025, at Si Yuan Amenities Centre. This course is part of the College General Education curriculum, aims to broaden students’ knowledge beyond their major studies, with a particular emphasis on the development of leadership abilities. Jointly organised by the College and the Leadership Training Institute of the Scout Association of Hong Kong, the course receives generous support from the WEDO Leadership Development Programme established by Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees.

GEUC2018 course brings learning to life through service-learning initiatives that highlight the concepts of of “Trail Restoration” and “Leave No Trace”. These initiatives not only enhance students’ practical skills but also foaster a deepen sense of social responsibility. Service-learning is closely aligned with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to promote students’ awareness of social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The College would like to extend special thanks to the instructors from the Scout Association for their collaboration in reforming the course curriculum and thoughtfully organising meaningful Service-Learning activities.

During the Ceremony, Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees and donor of WEDO Leadership Development Programme; Professor Stephen H S Wong, College Head, and representatives from the Leadership Training Institute of the Scout Association, including Mr Hong Po Sum, Chairman of the Leadership Training Institute Programme Committee, and Mr Stephen Wat, Deputy Adults in Scouting Commissioner (Adult Resources), presented certificates to the students who completed the course. They encouraged the students to utilise of what they have learnt, actively engage in social practice, achieve sustainable development goals, and become future leaders.

Professor Lee Hung Kay, Associate College Head and Dean of General Education, encouraged the students to make good use of what they have learnt.

Dr Simon S H Ho, Assistant Chief Commissioner (Adults in Scouting) of the Scout Association, addressed the Closing Ceremony.

Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of College Board of Trustees and donor of WEDO Leadership Development Programme, encouraged students to apply their knowledge in daily life.
