On 30 October 2025, the College held the Closing Ceremony for the GEUC2214 “Leadership in Practice: Service” course for Term 1 of the 2025-2026 academic year at the Si Yuan Amenities Centre. In alignment with the University’s Service-Learning requirements, this course officially incorporated Service-Learning elements starting from the 2025-2026 academic year and was renamed from GEUC2018 to GEUC2214 “Leadership in Practice: Service”. The course is co-organised by the College and the Leadership Training Institute of the Hong Kong Scout Association, with generous funding from the WEDO Leadership Development Programme, established by Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees.
The College has been co-organised course with the Hong Kong Scout Association’s Leadership Training Institute since 2008. With the integration of Service-Learning elements this year, students were trained to apply the leadership skills they have learned in serving the community. Service-learning not only bridges theory and practice but also enhances their sense of social responsibility and civic awareness. Through participation in community service, students can gain a deeper understanding of social needs and enhance their self-worth and sense of achievement while helping others.
At the Closing Ceremony, Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees and donor of WEDO Leadership Development Programme; Professor Stephen H S Wong, College Head and Mr William S H Lee, Secretary of Leadership Training Institute Council, presented certificates of completion to the students. They encouraged students to apply their knowledge in daily life and contribute to the development of the College and society, achieving the integration of “Service-Learning” and “Leadership Training”.
Professor Lee Hung Kay, Associate Head and Dean of General Education, encouraged students to enhance their skills through this course and to pay closer attention to social and environmental issues.
Dr Tsang Wing Hong, Chairman of Leadership Training Institute Quality Assurance Committee, delivered a speech at the Closing Ceremony.
Ms Lina H Y Yan, Chairman of College Board of Trustees and donor of WEDO Leadership Development Programme, encouraged students to integrate “Service-Learning” with “Leadership Training”.
