College’s Mission for Student Wellness: A Recap of Wellness Activities in the Term 2 of 2024-25

The College is dedicated to supporting the well-being of our students. To help manage stress and promote relaxation, the College Student Wellness Programme, together with the UChum Peer Support Ambassadors, has arranged a variety of stress-relief workshops for UC students in this term.

College engaged Breakthrough and Aromafunapy organised two workshops for UC students on 20 March and 9 April:

Start with hand care, learn to be aware

On 20 March, the College hosted the “EMO ERROR GYM Trainee” Workshop with the topic “Evaluate – Discovering your EMO self is the key to mental resilience” at the newly renovated Choi Koon Shum Learning Plus (L+), in collaboration with Breakthrough.

During the session, 10 participants got hands-on with a hand cream-making activity, fostering self-awareness and appreciation for their efforts. Through mindful connection with their hands, they reflected on their unique journeys and learned to care for themselves with compassion.

Aromafunapy Workshop: From Fragrant Plants to Wellness

On the evening of 9 April, the College, in collaboration with Aromafunapy, brought 17 students an enriching workshop. Under the guidance of the esteemed instructors Vincy, Alan, and Carmen, participants can immerse themselves in the world of aromatherapy, discovering how these plant-extracted essences can care for our well-being.

Not only did the participants acquire knowledge about the uses of aromatherapy, essential oils, and hydrosol, but they also had the opportunity to handcraft their own alcohol-free aromatic spray and mint hydrosol. These products allowed them to take home a piece of the workshop’s serene atmosphere, ensuring the continuation of the calming and rejuvenating effects.

Apart from the College-led activities, our UChum Ambassadors also hosted a series of activities to serve UC students:

When Paint Meets Heartfelt Words “Acrylic Flow Art Workshop”

The new cohort of Uchum Peer Support Ambassador hosted their first activity for UC students – “Acrylic Flow Art Workshop”, with enthusiastic participation from 10 United College students on 28 March 2025.

At the workshop, ambassadors first demonstrated paint-mixing techniques and guided participants in creating vibrant colour palettes. Participants then carefully poured their customised acrylic paints onto plastic bear figurines, observing the mesmerising fluid art patterns as colours naturally blended. Under the ambassadors’ guidance, students also crafted exquisite resin tree rings and dynamic fluid art paintings. Throughout the creative process, participants remained fully engaged, completing their unique artworks in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

Heartfelt Messages & Health Boost Station

Ambassadors also launched the Heartfelt Messages emotional support initiative from March to April 2025, installing Emotion Collection Boxes around the campus. Students were invited to share their feelings, write encouraging notes, or exchange daily experiences using the specially designed Heartfelt Message Cards. These messages, after being sorted by the ambassadors, were then placed in Emotion Mailboxes, where students could pick up relatable peer messages that reinforce – You Are Not Alone. Adding a burst of energy, a Health Boost Station on 10/F of Chan Chun Ha Hostel offered nutritious snacks to brighten students’ days.

Additionally, the UChum ambassadors also joined the exam cheering activities organised by the UBuddies of the Office of Student Affairs and the therapy dog visits at United College’s Wu Chung Library on 10 and 11 April 2025. Through joyful interactions with therapy dogs, students found a moment of relief from academic stress. The ambassadors also handed out nutritious snacks and gift bags to students in the library, creating meaningful respite for students amidst their demanding academic lives!

We hope that through these activities, students can find moments of relaxation amidst their busy academic lives!
