Friday Luncheon in Term 2 of 2025–2026 (Part I)

Friday Luncheon is a cherished tradition of UC, welcoming College members and their friends to participate and enjoy during term time. Once a month, a brief talk session is included during the Friday Luncheon, where College members share interesting and practical topics. The College views Friday Luncheon as a dynamic platform that fosters interaction and cohesion among members from diverse academic backgrounds, while also providing a moment of relaxation amid their hectic schedules. The College extends heartfelt gratitude to all members for their valuable contributions and insightful sharing.

Here are some of the highlights from January to February:

09.01.2026 Gathering with Dr Zhou Shaolong (front row, 2nd right) from Southern Medical University, Guangdong Province, China.

23.01.2026 Gathering with Prof Zhang Xinglong (front row, 4th left) from the Department of Chemistry, as well as the judges of the Cantonese Debate Match during the College Assembly held on the same day, including Mr Chan Pak Ka (front row, 2nd left) from the Independent Learning Centre, and Dr Benson T B Tong (front row, 3rd left) from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, together with members of the United College Cantonese Debate Team and the Shaw College Debate Team that took part in the competition.

30.01.2026 To enhance the relaxed vibe, the College specially arranged this luncheon at a different venue. The Departmental Coordinators of United College from the Faculties of Arts, Education, and Social Science were invited. The College hopes that this Luncheon serves as an expression of appreciation for their dedicated service and continuous support in teaching, College activities, and in strengthening connections with their departments.

13.02.2026 To extend a warm welcome to three newly affiliated UC members, including: Prof Huang Nan, Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (4th right); Prof Robert X Li, School of Hotel and Tourism Management (5th right); and Prof Henry M K Wong, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (3rd right).

27.02.2026 To extend a warm welcome to two newly affiliated UC members, including: Prof Zheng Qiming (3rd left), from the Department of Geography and Resource Management; and Mr Hans-Guenther Herrmann (3rd right), Professional Consultant from the Faculty of Law.
