United College 69th Anniversary Celebration

To mark the 69th College Anniversary, the College and Student Union hosted a series of celebrations, including the Anniversary Ceremony, Opening Ceremony of Student Celebration Activities, UC Run, Anniversary Ball, Open Bazaar, and the signature Feast for A Thousand. Let’s rewind these cherished moments together!

Anniversary Ceremony (17 October)

The 69th Anniversary Ceremony of the College was held on 17 October 2025 at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The College invited Ms Lina H Y Yan, MH, JP, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees, and Miss Rosanna S P Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, to officiate the Ceremony and deliver a speech.

The College also took this memorable occasion to present the honourable “United College Mr and Mrs Joseph W N Cheung Research Excellence Awards”, which encourages excellence in research among the College members, to the recipients of this year: Professor Kim H M Chow from the School of Life Sciences and Professor Jason J J Huang from the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care.

The College also presented the College graduates’ highest honours “United College Ming De Scholarship” and “United College Xin Min Scholarship” to Mr Oscar T L Yu (BBA in Global Business Studies) and Mr Wong Hin Yui (Law).

In 2023–2024, United College launched the Young Fellowship Academy, selecting outstanding students to become Young Fellow-To-Be. At the ceremony, nine students who successfully completed the programme requirements were officially conferred the inaugural title of United College Young Fellow. Among them, Mr Kelvin W C Yung from MBChB programme received the Outstanding Young Fellow Award in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the College. The College Staff Association sponsored a birthday cake for guests, college members and students to enjoy, concluding the ceremony in a joyful atmosphere.

Our sister colleges at CUHK (Shenzhen), Diligentia College and Ling College, presented gifts during the anniversary luncheon to congratulate UC’s 69th Anniversary.

To celebrate the College’s 69th anniversary, the College Student Union curated a series of celebration activities for staff, students and alumni, with the theme of UChanted.

Opening Ceremony of Student Celebration Activities and UC Run (17 October)

The student celebration activities kicked off with great enthusiasm on the United College campus. At the opening ceremony, the organising committee presented a series of performances that showcased students’ creativity and passion, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. Anniversary Ball (22 October)

The ballroom was decorated with dazzling lights, creating a dreamlike ambiance that enchanted everyone present. Participants enjoyed exciting performances and had the opportunity to invite others to dance, crafting unforgettable memories of their own. Click HERE for the Instagram post.

Open Bazaar (24 October)

On the night of the event, the entrance was decorated with eye-catching photo spots, inviting participants to take pictures to capture memorable moments. A variety of booths offered food, drinks, handmade crafts, and accessories, along with interactive games for participants to enjoy. The stage featured non-stop performances, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that kept the crowd engaged all evening. Click HERE for the Instagram post.

Feast For A Thousand (13 November)

Feast For A Thousand was a lively and festive occasion. Participants enjoyed traditional poon choi while eagerly looking forward to the lucky draw. The stage performances received loud applause from the audience, lifting the atmosphere to a joyful high. Click HERE for the Instagram post.
