With You All the Way — UChum Explores the Ideal University Life with You

As the new semester swiftly reaches its midpoint, the United College Student Wellness Programme and UChum Peer Support Ambassadors have actively engaging students through a vibrant array of initiatives.  Over the past two months, these efforts have focused on enriching campus life and helping new students adapt smoothly to university life.

UC Art Fair 2025 – Exploring the Ideal University Experience

On 1 September, UChum participated in the Art Fair organised by the College. At the event, we presented a specially designed interactive quiz game titled “What’s Your Uni Style?”, themed around the “Five Essentials of University Life” and the ocean. New students arriving at CUHK are like small fish swimming in a vast ocean, inevitably feeling a bit lost. Through a light-hearted Q&A format, we encouraged students to reflect on their ideal university experience. Each participant received a custom-designed “School Bus Permit” card holder based on their responses, a practical and memorable keepsake.

Wellness and Inclusive Fair – Spreading Kindness

From 15 to 17 October, UChum was honored to join various social enterprises and NGOs at the Wellness and Inclusive Fair, organised by the Office of Student Affairs, at Cultural Square. Alongside our interactive quiz, UChum invited students to write down a recent act of kindness or leave a message of encouragement. Participants also drew fortune slips to test their luck for the day. This simple yet meaningful activity served as a gentle reminder: “Never think any act of kindness is too small.” A smile or a greeting can bring warmth and positive change in our community.

Peer Buddies Programme 2025 – Walking Together on the Path of Adaptation

To support freshmen, especially those who did not attend orientation camps, the Student Wellness Programme continues to run the Peer Buddy Programme, with UChum Ambassadors serving as buddies to freshmen. The Kick-off Ceremony on 19 September featured ice-breaking games and a campus exploration activity “CU Hunt,” designed to foster connections between freshmen and senior students while helping them get familiar with the CUHK’s campus.

To further strengthen the bonding between Buddies and freshmen, a war game ice-breaking activity was held on 3 October, promoting teamwork and interaction in a fun and dynamic setting. Moving forward, the programme will continue using engaging formats to build a strong sense of community among students.

We hope these activities have conveyed the warmth and dedication of the UChum team. Recruitment for the new cohort of UChum Ambassadors will begin in November.
