Young Fellowship Academy × Global Leadership Programme at Worcester College, University of Oxford

This summer marked a significant milestone for the first cohort of the Young Fellowship Academy (2023–2025), as the Young Fellows-to-be fulfilled the final requirement of their fellowship: participation in the Global Leadership Programme at Worcester College, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. From 14 to 28 June 2025, Professor Tse Chi Shing, Programme Advisor and Associate Dean of Students , led 12 Young Fellows-to-be through this intensive two-week course designed to cultivate leadership skills and global perspectives.

The two-week programme offered an immersive experience that combined leadership theory with real-world application. Under the guidance of professors and PhD graduates of the University of Oxford, participants engaged in dynamic sessions led by distinguished leaders from diverse fields, including law, the military, healthcare, economics, and philosophy. Participants reflected that these encounters deepened their understanding of core leadership qualities, such as resilience, decisiveness, and empathy.

Beyond the classroom, the programme featured a series of thoughtfully curated cultural and historical excursions, including visits to the Ashmolean Museum and the Churchill War Rooms. These experiences offered powerful insights into how leadership decisions have shaped social development throughout history.

The programme emphasised that leadership transcends specific disciplines and personality traits. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their individual leadership journeys and explore their unique potential for growth and impact.

The first cohort of Young Fellows-to-be joined the Young Fellowship Academy in the 2023–2024 academic year through a competitive application and selection process. After completing the 20-month training, those who successfully complete all programme requirements will graduate and be formally conferred the title of “United College Young Fellow” during the upcoming College 69th Anniversary Ceremony in October 2025.
