United College 66th Anniversary Ceremony

To celebrate the 66th College anniversary, the College and the College Student Union jointly prepared a series of celebration activities for staff, students and alumni under the pandemic.


 

Anniversary Ceremony and Unveiling Ceremony of the College Ming De Scholarship and Xin Min Scholarship Perpetual Plaque

The 66th Anniversary Ceremony of the College was held on 21 October 2022 at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The College invited Ms Lina H Y Yan, MH, JP, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees and Mr Albert K H Wong, SBS, BBS, JP, Trustee of United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Senior Professor of Practice, Department of Law and Business, Hong Kong Shue Yan University to officiate the Ceremony and deliver speeches. The College also presented the honorable “United College Mr and Mrs Joseph W N Cheung Research Excellence Awards” at this memorable occasion to Professor Tian Xiaoyu, School of Biomedical Sciences and Professor Yu Yong, Department of Mathematics, the recipients of this year. The Unveiling Ceremony of the College Ming De Scholarship and Xin Min Scholarship Perpetual Plaque immediately followed after the Anniversary Ceremony at the Atrium of the T C Cheng Building. The scholarship recipients were invited to join the Unveiling Ceremony to mark this special episode.

Opening Ceremony of Student Celebration Activities and UC Run

Last year, the opening ceremony was cancelled due to the heavy rain. Fortunately, the fine weather this year made the opening ceremony perfect, allowing participants to enjoy the performances prepared by the student organisers. On the same day, many students tried their best to achieve good results during the UC Run held on campus.

Open Bazaar

Students organised an Open Bazzar on 26 October 2022. There were different stalls selling packaged food and beverages, small handicrafts, accessories and booth games and large decorations were placed at the entrance for participants to check in that night. The stage was bustling and filled with remarkable performances throughout the night.

Feast for a Thousand

“Feast for a Thousand” was held on 4 November 2022. Although no food and drinks were served during the show due to the pandemic, the atmosphere was heated up by the spectacular performances of different bands and singers, allowing the participants to enjoy the exciting night.
