Choi Kai Yau Residence

United College has received a donation from the CKY Education Charitable Trust and the Choi Koon Shum Education Foundation Limited, enabling the College to build a new student hostel to accommodate more residential students, which were commissioned in 2025. Choi Kai Yau Residence is located at the upper car park next to United College’s Tsang Shiu Tim Building. It is a four-storey building with a footprint of 2,805 square metres. The new hostel will have 125 twin rooms, providing a total of 250 student hostel places.

Residential rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, which is operated through the Octopus card system. Residents can enjoy free Wi-Fi service in the hostel.

A unique feature of Choi Kai Yau Residence is that it houses a multi-purpose hall that can host up to 300 people.

Welcome to the Choi Kai Yau Residence – A Vibrant Home for Growth and Connection

Welcome to the Choi Kai Yau Residence — a community built not only for living but also for growing together. Our vision is to create a dynamic and inclusive living environment where students are empowered to explore their full potential, develop inner strengths, and foster a strong sense of social responsibility.

With state-of-the-art facilities such as a multi-purpose concert hall, common rooms, and fitness spaces, our hostel serves as a vibrant hub for holistic student development. We aim to enrich residents’ lives through a wide variety of activities, including music and art performances, cultural exchanges, speaker series, sports, and community involvement initiatives.

As the Founding Warden, I am dedicated to nurturing an environment that supports students’ personal, social, and intellectual growth. This journey is grounded in the principles of the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and driven by a strong commitment to student engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Building a thriving hostel community requires close collaboration. I look forward to working alongside the residents’ association, resident tutors, administrative staff, fellow wardens, and the Student Hostel Management Committee to ensure that our goals and initiatives are in tune with students’ evolving needs and aspirations.

Let’s build a home where every student can belong, grow, and lead together.
