Dr Hu Hung Lick Henry, a former member of the Board of Trustees of United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, passed away on 27 July 2025 at the age of 105. We are deeply saddened by his passing and hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
From 1960 to 1963, Dr Hu served as a member of the Board of Trustees of United College. He also played a key role in overseeing the College’s evening school from 1960 to 1970, providing invaluable learning opportunities to students with limited resources and nurturing countless emerging talents.
Dr Hu and his wife, Dr Chung Chi Yung, co-founded Shue Yan College in 1971, further expanding access to post-secondary education for Hong Kong’s younger generations. Through decades of unwavering dedication and leading by example, Dr Hu made remarkable contributions to the education sector and garnered enduring respect from the community. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and selfless service to education, he was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2008.
