Application for UC Student Hostels 2021-2022 (only for non-local students promoting to year 3 in 2020-2021)

more

From 2016-2017 onward, the Chinese University has abandoned the policy whereby newly admitted non-local undergraduates will not be guaranteed hostel accommodation on campus during their normative period of study. They have to arrange accommodation by themselves for one academic year. The UC Student Hostels Management Committee has resolved that non-local undergraduates will not be given priority for hostel accommodation in their third year of study. Non-local undergraduates wishing to reside on campus in their non-guaranteed year have to submit hostel applications to the College in the year before promoting to year 3. A quota will be set aside for them but they will have to compete according to the prevailing selection criteria. These will include (a) academic performance (b) participation in extra-curricular activities and (c) participation in hostel activities.

(Chinese version only)

more

1. 實施宿舍出入及防疫管理,禁止訪客進入;
2. 宿生出入需要於櫃台登記及記錄時間;
3. 所有人士於宿舍內公眾地方必須配戴口罩;
4. 宿舍內不得進行任何人群聚集活動;
5. 所有人士進入宿舍時須量度體溫;

College Announcement on Student Hostels Disease Prevention, Health Declaration and Self-medical Surveillance

more

As the spread of the novel coronavirus has reached a critical stage, the University has elevated the Response Level against novel coronavirus to “Emergency”. All UC hostels will introduce the following arrangements with immediate effect:

1. The University has decided to extend the Lunar New Year holiday, classes will resume on 17 February 2020. Therefore, all students are encouraged to stay at home. Unless it is necessary, you should not return to the hostels to reduce the risk of infection.

2. Those who need to stay at hostels are required to comply with the following measures:
a. No visitors are allowed to enter hostel areas with immediate effect.
b. Residents are required to record their personal information and the time when they enter and leave the hostel, in order to let the warden keep track the condition of residents
c. All students who return to hostels are required to declare their travel history in the previous 14 days by filling in the Health Declaration Form (See below). They are also required to monitor their health status for 14 days by filling in the Self-medical Surveillance Form (See below). The forms should be submitted to their respective hostel wardens.
d. All residents should wear surgical mask at public area and wash their hands frequently.
e. Those who experience any illness, or get to know their roommate with illness symptoms, should contact warden and resident tutor immediately for necessary arrangement.

As the situation is critical at this moment, the College strongly advises all residents to stay at home, avoid contact with different people by reducing the risk of infection. All the above measures may cause inconvenience to residents but they are necessary and your health is always our primary concern. All of us are urged to take care of their personal health and look out for the well-being of those around us.
